Abstract
Periodontal regeneration includes the regrowth of alveolar bone. Hence by using a highly standardized radiographic technique, Height and density changes of the alveolar crest may be used to monitor periodontal healing. Intraoral radiographs are useful in that they offer an overview of the amount of bone present and serve as a permanent record of the amount of the bone support throughout the study. Bone loss or gain may be assessed by comparing the subsequent radiographs.
In this report, radiographs following GTR therapy show noticeable bone regeneration on defects. Bone gain on radiographs implys that formation of new attachment is possible to the limit of newly detected bone level. Radiographic evaluation following GTR therapy cannot show histomorphometric changes. But, radiographs are useful method that evaluate outcome following GTR therapy combined with clinical measurement-such as probing pocket depth, probing attachment level.
